Sunday rituals that help you have a super productive week

Do you get that slight feeling of dread as the hours tick away on Sunday? Whether you work at home, on location or in the office that feeling can be hard to shake off. Whilst you may dread Monday morning, there are a few Sunday rituals you can put in place to help you enjoy your day and have a super productive week.

Sunday rituals that help you have a super productive week

Do some exercise

Exercise is a fantastic and easy way to help your body releases endorphins (happy hormones). Why not arrange to set aside an hour in the morning for the exercise of your choice. Whether you love Zumba, a morning run or heading down the gym, you’ll feel a lot more energised and ready to face the day with a smile.

do a checklist for a productive week

Make a check list

Who doesn’t love a checklist right? I find there’s something quite cathartic about being able to check off all your tasks. You could either do a checklist for that day or the week ahead so you can get everything out of your head and in writing. The best thing about making a check list is that you know you won’t forget anything important as it’s written down.

One of the most important Sunday rituals is to prep your meals

Do you get to the middle of the week and find yourself frustrated that you’re having to spend hours cooking every night. If you do you’re not alone, but there’s a lot you can do to avoid the mid week frustration. Spend a few hours on Sunday batch cooking your meals for the week, let them cool then put into Tupperware and freeze. When you get home during the week, all you’ll need to do is let the food defrost and reheat for a yummy, nutritious dinner that you can make in minutes. Here’s some ideas on the kind of food you can batch cook.

Have a good nights sleep

Waking up groggy on a Monday morning is one of the worst feelings. It puts you in a bad mood and that’s the last thing you need at the start of the week. Getting a good nights sleep is one of those essential Sunday night rituals that will help your week get off to a great start. So how do you go about getting that great nights sleep?

  • Start winding down a few hours before you go to bed if you can. Try to avoid things like your TV and mobile as they emit a blue light that keeps you awake. You could read a book or even do a few puzzles.
  • Have a nice relaxing bubble bath (or shower). You can find some great pampering tips here.
  • Have a warm drink (but avoid coffee or tea for obvious reasons). You could try hot chocolate or Ovaltine.

Plan your outfits for the week

Who wants to wake up every day wasting time figuring out what to wear? Not you right? Planning my outfits for the week is one of my favourite Sunday night rituals as I find it easier working out to wear when I know I’ve got lots of time to plan ahead.

Put fresh sheets on

Start the week on a high by putting some fresh sheets on your bed. That feeling of slipping into freshly laundered sheets is like nothing else.

Clean out your bag

Whilst you probably carry most of the same things in your bag each week, often you accumulate a lot of recipes and random objects that you don’t need. When you’re looking for your phone in a hurry, the last thing you need is to have to wade through lots of objects to find it. By clearing your bag out at the start of the week you’ll know you’re only carrying the essentials- this will make you a lot more organised and ease unnecessary weight from your shoulders.

sunday rituals like clearing out your fridge

Give the fridge a once over

Did you know each person generates around 3.5 pounds of food waste a week? One way of avoiding unnecessary wastage is to go through your fridge every week. You can work out what’s in there and what their best before date is so you can work out when you need to eat it by. By noting what’s in your fridge you’ll also be able to work out what you can use in your meal prep that week.

Another handy benefit of giving your fridge the once over is you can see what you’re running out of so you can put it on your shopping list ahead of time. Shopping trips when you don’t really know what you need are so stressful, not to mention wasteful when you buy too much of something.

And… relax

Don’t forget, Sunday’s are also the perfect day for rest and relaxation. After you’ve busied yourself doing all your tasks for the day it’s time for a little me time. Do whatever you like most whether that’s watching your favourite tv programme or reading that good book.

Hopefully you enjoyed these Sunday rituals and it gives you some ideas on how you can have a really productive week.
