Is Maybelline The Falsies Surreal mascara the new viral sensation?

I’m sure you all remember Maybelline Sky High mascara being plastered over every YouTube, Tiktok and Instagram channel as everyone raved about its long lash effects. So with Maybellines new release The Falsies Surreal mascara claiming to give a false lash effect, will it be the new viral sensation?

The new mascara comes in a cute lilac and silver tube with a modern design. It has been inspired by lash extensions, and has a formula that uses hybrid fibre lash technology to add 36x more length and 10x more volume to your lashes. The fibres in the mascara are all different lengths – up to 3mm – which help to lengthen lashes. Lash oils also help to take care of your lashes so you can look and feel good. Maybelline The Falsies Surreal mascara has a unique helix twist plastic brush that has twisted plastic bristles to capture every lash.

I’ve been wearing the mascara for around a week now and I’m pretty pleased with it. The formula is just right- not too wet – not too dry and the brush is just the right size to reach each lash. It is a little trickier to grab the inner lashes just because of the nature of the brush, but it doesn’t make that much difference. Whilst Maybelline The Falsies Surreal mascara formula contains fibres, it’s not at all irritating and you don’t get any scratchiness like you used to with those old fibre mascaras. It’s super comfortable to wear all day.

The mascara really does lengthen my lashes, adds volume, and I love how fanned out my outer lashes look. There’s no clumping, it doesn’t smudge and it stays put all day. It looks really natural and whilst it does darken my lashes, it’s not overly intense. When I’m wearing eyeliner it is harder to see the effects of the mascara, but it’s mostly still visible.

When it comes to removing the mascara, it takes quite a while due to the fibres, which can be a little annoying.

Final thoughts

I wouldn’t say Maybelline The Falsies Surreal mascara added 36x more length or 10x volume, but it definitely gives longer, more defined, fanned out lashes. My natural lashes are not very long, so those with longer lashes will obviously have a much bigger impact with this mascara.
