10 ways to embrace Autumn | Autumn drinks | Pumpkin picking
Don’t let the darker mornings get you down, discover 10 fabs ways you can embrace Autumn to the fullest
For many the thought of longer nights and darker mornings as Autumn draws in is one of dread. After all we’re saying goodbye to balmy evenings, cocktails in the sun and fun in the swimming pool. However, Autumn has a lot more benefits then you might give it credit for. Autumn gives you the chance to slow down, to catch up on what you’ve missed in the warmer months and restore your physical and mental health. You’ll get to enjoy the foods you love without worrying about fitting in a bikini and snuggling up in bed without worrying you’re going to be too hot. Here’s 10 ways to really embrace Autumn.
Take a walk in the woods
Autumn is full of so many beautiful Autumnal colours. Take a walk in the woods and capture the beautiful oranges and browns all around you. You can exercise without worrying about overheating and even recapture your youth by jumping in some leaves.
Try a new Autumn inspired drink
Instagram is full of the new Autumn inspired drinks that come out every year. Why not try that new spiced latte or add a spot of ginger to your coffee.
Fill your home with Autumn scents
If you really want to embrace Autumn, one of the best ways to do this is by filling your home with warm scents. The easiest way to do this is with candles, there’s so many candles you can buy for the season that will give your home a cosy feel. Here’s some of my favourite candles.
Embrace the Autumn makeup trends
Autumn simply screams out for bright shades of berry’s and brown colour palettes. Unlike the other seasons you can really go bold with your makeup and try colours you might not have previously. You might want to check out my post on the best berry lipsticks.
Try Autumn fruits and vegetables
We all know that the pumpkin is a much loved Autumn vegetable, but there’s lots more that comes into harvest this season. Whilst you can buy these all year round in supermarkets, doesn’t it taste much better when grown on English soil? Try delights like English grown broccoli, Brussels sprouts, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower and more. Just check out your local farmers market for inspiration.
Expand your Autumn wardrobe
One good thing about the cooler days and nights is that you can start to wear sweaters and jumpers again. There is some really stylish clothing you can buy for Autumn that is designed to add shape to your body and make the most of your figure. My favourite jumpers are ones that embrace the diamanté trend. Check out 10 of my favourite Autumn jumpers.
Embrace your desire to hibernate
The darker mornings mean you’re more likely to want to sleep in past your alarm. Whilst you can’t always do this due to work and things like the school run, embrace it when you can. As well as sleeping in a bit longer, you can take things a lot slower in life. Take time of a evening to read a book or have a Netflix binge session.
Embrace Autumn and enjoy the extra hour in bed
There’s one thing I really love about Autumn and that’s when the clocks go back. There’s no greater feeling than knowing you can enjoy a guilt free extra hour in bed.
It’s the perfect time to make homemade soup
What could be better on a cold rainy day then a bowl of steaming hot soup. Autumn gives you the chance to make your own soups and try new flavours from tomato to leek and potato soup. You can make your soup in a pan on the hob or buy a soup maker like I did recently. All you need to do is put all your ingredients in and it does all the hard work for you!
Embrace Autumn by trying out a Autumn activity
Embrace Autumn by trying something you can’t do for the rest of the year. Why not try pumpkin picking or give picking apples a go. At many farms you just pay the entrance price and what you pick is all yours to enjoy.
