Holiday tips and tricks for the perfect look at Christmas
You’ve got your Christmas tunes on, your glitter makeup at the ready, now you just need to follow these simple steps to create the perfect look for Christmas
Glitter everywhere, songs on repeat, the fireplace is on and hot chocolate is being consumed as if there is no tomorrow: welcome to the holidays! And what a joyous time of the year it is. Everyone’s feeling merry and has a little extra to give in the most wonderful time of the year. With the holidays come the parties, meeting friends for a hot drink or Christmas party dinner, baking biscuits, eating said biscuits, ingesting a lot of sugar and meeting people you haven’t seen in a year. It’s completely normal to feel a little anxious about what to wear and how to look your best in this magical time. And seeing as you probably have a ton of parties to attend and people to greet, you need to find something to wear that will make you feel happy and confident. So repeat after me, you can do this! I’m here to help. You want to look good during the holidays, so here are my tips and tricks for the perfect look.
Preparation is key when you want to create the perfect look
Whenever you’re getting ready for a special day or time, you need to be aware that a lot can be done on the day but preparation is important. And this means getting ready for this special time in advance. Let’s start with your skin. Even the best makeup won’t cover dehydrated, greyish looking skin. You need to think in advance and take care of your skin in the weeks leading up to the holidays. Remember to always remove your make-up before going to bed (a vital step you don’t want to miss) and try adding some moisture and protection to your skin. The perfect look is even more achievable when your skin is looking radiant!
The hands also matter
Many people like to take care of their appearance, but they tend to forget that they shake hands with many or that people look at their hands often. Yes, moisturising is also important, and your hands need some love too – and if we’re talking about hands, don’t forget your elbows too! Especially if you’re planning to wear a sleeveless dress. In addition to having smooth, silky hands, remember that getting your nails done is an incredible confidence booster. You just feel so much more put together. Go for a themed-look and get creative!
Holiday makeup to help you create the perfect look
It won’t be a true holiday party without makeup being involved in the mix! Dressed to kill!
Well, not literally, I would hope… but getting dressed for the holidays is the most exciting part! You get to choose a few dresses that you love and they can be as revealing as you want because it’s the holidays and no one is going to judge. I’d suggest going for a more fluid, loose fit if you’re going out for drinks or dinner so that you feel comfortable in your dress even after having a full tummy. My personal trick if you’re doing Christmas parties on a budget is to buy only one dress for the season and just switch up your look with different shoes and accessories. Different makeup looks also contribute a ton for a new, fresh look. And to be honest, will you be seeing the same people at two different parties? Most likely, no. So who cares if you’re wearing the same dress?
Braids, curls, waves…
Hairstyles are important too because you’ll feel complete. After doing your make-up with beautiful, healthy skin underneath it, getting your nails done, and dressing the part, it’s that final touch that will make your whole look seem like one. Go for something simple if doing your hair is not something you’re comfortable with. Just by adding a headband with jewels on it you’ll look like you’ve made an effort. If you need some help with making your hair look healthier, have a look at this. Ultimately the best tip is to just relax. If you are worry and stress-free, you’ll look perfect! At this time of the year, it’s difficult not to look amazing because the joy we feel inside just overflows into the outside. Remember to enjoy this magical time of the year.
