How to have a fantastic spa experience at home

With the winter in full swing, it can feel pretty bleak with the long evenings and cold days. Whilst you may be feeling the pinch after Christmas, you can make yourself feel better by creating a spa experience at home. A spa day is perfect for improving your wellness as you can relax and focus on selfcare. By creating your own spa experience at home you have the benefit of not having to venture out in the cold and you’ll save money in the long run as those treatments can get pretty expensive. I’ve teamed up with Very to showcase some of their amazing wellness brands and how they can help you create the most amazing spa experience at home.
Part of wellness is taking care of what’s inside
Whilst spending days focusing purely on yourself is extremely important, it’s important to take care of what’s inside your body even when you’re going about your every day life. Wellness is all about ensuring you get the right vitamins and nutrients through your diet and staying physically active. Sometimes it’s not possible for you to get all the vitamins you’d like through your diet, and thats when diet supplements can really help. Vitamin Kitchen Skin & Nails vegan gummies look and taste like sweets, but they contain essential vitamins like Biotin, Vitamin C and Zinc. Perfect if you’re not a fan of capsules.
Light some candles to set the scene
To make your spa experience really come alive make sure you reduce the sounds around you as much as possible and dim the lights. Light some candles and put them around the bath or each area you want to capture your spa experience in. Candles are perfect for helping to reduce stress levels and induce a feeling of calm.

Make your bathroom zen like
As you’ll be spending a lot of your at home spa experience in the bathroom, it’s important to make it feel as zen like as possible. A zen bathroom is a calm, peaceful bathroom free of any clutter and unwanted noise. Fill your bathroom with as many plants as possible as they add a natural tranquil vibe. Remove any items that are not required in the bathroom and play a peaceful calming soundtrack as you unwind. YouTube is a great place to find calm zen like soundtracks for free.
Give your face and feet the ultimate spa experience at home
It wouldn’t be a proper spa day without a good facial and foot treatment would it!? Whilst you won’t have someone physically massaging that days stresses away, a facial streamer and foot spa come in a pretty good second. The Rio facial steamer is fantastic for helping to open up your pores helping to loose any trapped dirt for a proper cleanse. Whilst you’re waiting for the facial steamer to do it’s magic, you can put your feet into the foot spa and feel the jets gently rejuvenate your tired feet. Foot spas can help to increase blood flow to your feet as the hot water helps to dilate your blood vessels. Over time this can help to increase your metabolism. I tried out the Homedics Luxury foot spa and I loved the bubble feature. It almost seemed like I was in a jacuzzi as the warm bubbles floated over my feet. It also has a pumice stone and massage roller.
Pamper your face
Now that you’ve released any trapped dirt in your pores, it’s the perfect time to start your nightly skincare routine. Very have a fantastic range of beauty products to help you create your own spa experience. I like to start off with Murad Exfoliating cleanser to gently exfoliate any dead skin cells to leave my skin soft and smooth. I love this cleanser as it helps to reduce dry skin, leaving my skin looking more radiant underneath.
Sometimes I will also use Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing balm £44 as it’s great for helping to cleanse, soften and nourish my skin. It also helps to disintegrate makeup without having to use makeup wipes. I follow this with Elemis Superfood Glow Priming moisturiser £39 which is perfect for helping to prime and hydrate my skin leaving it looking radiant. What I love about the moisturiser is that it’s so versatile it can be used as a primer, moisturiser or highlighter.
Finally I like to use Elemis Pro-Collagen Eye Revive Mask £55 to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and dark circles. You can discover more of the Elemis products Very has to offer.
Create your own sauna
Ok I don’t mean literally (unless you have the funds to create your own steam cabin in the garden), however infrared blankets give the same experience at a fraction of the cost. Infared blankets work by hugging you tightly to help sweat out toxins whilst relieving any aches and pains.
Slip into some comfy pyjamas
A spa experience isn’t complete without being able to slip into some comfy pyjamas at the end of it. Very have a lovely range of nightwear you can pick from, and I opted for the star top and patterned trousers. I don’t own a pair like it and it will certainly look very stylish amongst my Disney pyjamas. I teamed this with these super comfy fur lined slipper boots. I love the cute little Pom Pom design at the back of each slipper.
It’s time to chill
After all that pampering you’re probably feeling relaxed and revitalised. Whilst you revel in that post pampering glow why not indulge in something you really enjoy. Whether you’re a bookworm, you love listening to a podcast or a bit of Netflix and chill, this pamper day is all about you. Make the most of the time to yourself and make sure you switch or any phones or computers to avoid any unnecessary disturbances.
Put rose oil into your diffuser
One perfect way to relax and make your bedroom smell like a spa, is to put rose essential oil into your diffuser. The scent of rose is super relaxing as it helps to relieve stress and fight off anxiety. Not only is it good for your mind, but it can help your body physically as well. When you breathe it in the rose essential oil works to help relax your muscles, regenerating skin and reducing inflammation in your muscles.
Add lavender to your pillow
Before you head off to sleep make sure you pop a few drops of lavender onto your pillow. You probably hear people recommend you use lavender at night all the time and there’s a good reason for that. Lavender is fantastic at helping to reduce anxiety, lower your heart rate and even boost your mood. It can also help you to sleep better and make you wake up feeling a lot more rested.
I hope you enjoy creating your spa experience at home with these tips. If you think your friends and family would love to see these please give the post a share on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest.
