18 super romantic winter date ideas
When you’re planning a date throughout the year it can be hard to come up with something original. Winter brings so many more options when it comes to picking somewhere to go on a date. Forgot the standard cinema trip or meal at Zizzis, I’ve come up with 18 winter date ideas you’ll love. Here’s my selection of great winter date ideas.
Ice skating
In winter ice skating rinks pop up everywhere. From large shopping centres to tourist attractions you’ll be spoilt for choice. This is by far one of my favourite winter date ideas.
Play a board game
Board games are perfect to while away the time when it’s miserable outside. Get competitive and offer rewards which the winning party can get from the loser. Winning kiss anyone?
Act like a tourist
I think cities look really magical in winter with their twinkling lights and pretty Christmas decorations. You could visit your local city and act like a Bonafide tourist visiting famous landmarks or going on a bus tour.
Hot chocolate under the stars
There’s nothing more romantic then staring at the stars with your beau is there? Stay warm on your star gazing trip by taking delicious homemade hot chocolate, marshmallows and chocolate chip cookies.
Spa night at home
Light some candles, set the bath running and get in the mood to chill by having a spa night at home. You don’t need to spend a lot and can get the treats you need to make your spa night amazing in shops like Lush.
Go sledding
So this one probably requires some snow- unless you’ve got access to a indoor snow centre. There’s nothing more fun then running to the top of the hill jumping on a sledge and sliding all the way down.
Release your inner artist
Again you will need snow for this activity. Fill a spray can with water and food colouring or buy spray paint and then draw your masterpiece. Whoever makes the best design will get the prize of their choice.
Bake a gingerbread house together
Gingerbread houses are the quintessential symbol of Christmas. You could buy a ready made kit or create it from scratch. Whatever you choose you’ll both get the fun of decorating the gingerbread house with sweets, candy canes and icing.
Start dance classes
Whether you want to learn the salsa or even Irish dancing it’s a great way to get close to your other half. Dancing is incredibly interactive and you’ll find you’ll probably see a whole different side to your partner.
Chinese night
Make the most of your love for Chinese food by ordering a selection of dishes you both enjoy and sharing it between the two of you. You could even try things you’ve not tasted before and know it won’t go to waste as you’ll know one of you will eat it.
Carriage rides
A horse drawn carriage ride through the city sounds magical doesn’t it? Even if you can’t get a horse drawn carriage there are plenty of rickshaws you can hire if you don’t fancy a traditional taxi. You’ll often get to snuggle under a blanket and watch the world go by.
Indoor skydiving
You won’t need to jump out of a plane and it’s perfectly safe. Indulge your inner adrenaline junkie without needing to worry your parachute won’t go off.
Say it with post it notes
If you’re running short on money you could leave a trail of post it notes around with little suggestions on to spice up your night. If you’re not sure what to say why not Google it or just use your imagination.
Get cosy
Transform your home into a winter wonderland with paper snowflakes hanging from the ceiling, hot chocolate with fluffy marshmallows, whipped cream and of course Christmas movies. Invite your partner over and snuggle up in front of the fire. One of those super romantic winter date ideas you’ll definitely want to recreate.
Walking in a winter wonderland
You can take this two ways, the traditional walk through a snowy landscape or visiting Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. Both are equally festive and romantic although you’ll probably find more to do at the latter.
Create a Caribbean date
I’m not really talking a last minute dash to Barbados although that would be nice. With the weather being cold outside it’s the perfect time to get the mercury rising by creating Caribbean inspired dishes. You might not be able to sit outside by the pool, but close your eyes and the warmth of the food will soon have you imagining you’re on a balmy beach.
Go to a comedy show
Get some laughs this winter with a trip to your local comedy club. It’ll make you feel a lot brighter and in a great mood to spend some time with your better half.
Go on a Christmas light tour
Some houses go all out at Christmas and that can make quite a show. Why not go for a drive around the streets checking out all the displays and getting in the Christmas mood. Make sure you play your Christmas music- Mariah Carey All I Want For Christmas Is You is optional.
I hope you enjoyed my list of winter date ideas. Don’t forget to give the post a share if you think your friend and family would love to find out more.
