Summer is a season full of warm, sunny days, cool drinks and balmy nights and that calls for shimmery, glamorous makeup. I like to keep my summer makeup fairly light but I love to accentuate my key features like my eyes and cheekbones. I absolutely love golden eyeshadow and find it really draws out my blue eyes, especially with a little bit of added contrast. Highlighter is definitely hot on my summer makeup and is a key component in my makeup bag. Lips are also important and I love to add a bit of colour with a liquid lipstick as they last for hours. Here’s a showcase into my makeup bag Summer edition. I’ll be trying everything on so you can get a real feel for the look. I’ve detailed all the products I use below so you can check them out for yourself.
NYX Bare With Me jelly primer
NYX Bare With Me jelly primer has a really refreshing jelly like formula that is perfect for the hot summer months. The primer is water based and is great at adding hydration to get rid of those pesky dry skin patches. The primer helps to create a smooth even base to apply my makeup on.
L’Oreal True Match foundation in Golden Ivory
Available in 40 shades, L’Oreal True Match foundation has a hydrating and skin enriching formula as it’s enriched with Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin and Aloe Vera extract. It’s a very fluid foundation so I only need a small amount to cover most of my face. The formula is pretty light so my skin is still able to breathe in the hot sunny weather.
ELF Beauty Shield Anti-oxidant setting powder
This powder is infused with key anti-oxidants like Vitamin C and Licorice Extract to protect my skin from free radicals. It’s a really fine, lightweight powder that gives me a flawless finish.
I think this powder has been discontinued but you can buy the very similar High Definition powder for £7.50
Tarte Shape Tape concealer in fair light neutral
One of the best things about Tarte Cosmetics is that all of their products are cruelty free. The Shape Tape concealer is available in 30 shades so you should be able to find one that suits your skin tone. It has a crease free formula that promises 16 hour wear. This is probably the best concealer I’ve come across so far as the formula is thick but not to the extent that it cakes on my skin. For my summer makeup look I want to look fresh and relaxed, so this concealer is perfect as it’s great at hiding my dark circles.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy highlighter
A natural low key look is where it’s at for my summer makeup. Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy highlighter is perfect for this as I get the perfect sun kissed look when I wear this.
Unfortunately I don’t think this is available anymore. You might find one on Ebay though!
Revolution Pro Ultimate Eye Look palette in Diamond and Pearls
This palette is the perfect finishing touch for my summer makeup look. It’s compact size means I can easily put it in my handbag for on the go glamour. You can also buy the palette in So Jaded, Quartz Crush, Ocean Treasures, Wild Onyx and Hidden Jewels. I love how the gold and brown shades combine together for a subtle but glamorous look.
Ciate London Fierce Flicks eyeliner
Perfect for adding shape and definition to my eyes, the chiselled tip of the eyeliner makes it really easy to use. I find felt tip eyeliners often provide the deepest colour which really helps my eyes stand out.

Maybelline New York Falsies Lash Lift mascara
I love love love this mascara. It has a unique curved brush to add length and volume and I can assure you it really delivers. The mascara feels really comfortable to apply on my top and bottom lashes, there’s no scratchiness and it doesn’t smudge over the course of the day. The perfect finish to my Summer makeup look.
L’Oreal Paris Les Macarons Ultra Matte liquid lipstick in Praline De Paris
The Les Macarons range are pretty much my favourite lipsticks at the moment. The shades in the collection range from berries to subtle reds and they last for hours. They’re not drying and feel really comfortable to wear all day long. Boots don’t have a huge selection available, but Superdrug has pretty much the whole collection if you want to check them out.
Primark Ps Brow Promade
There’s no need to pay through the nose for a brow pomade when you can get it for £2.50 from Primark. If you’ve tried some of the products in their beauty collection, you know that they often have very similar if not identical formulas to pricier products. I think it’s available in three shades so you should be able to find one that suits you.
