How to make big money on Vinted

how to make lots of money selling on vinted

Vinted is over 10 years old but is only recently starting to really make moves as a great place to sell. Originally starting life as a place to sell your old clothes, Vinted has really transformed in recent times. Whilst you can still sell your clothes on Vinted, and it’s a great place to do so, Vinted now lets you sell everything from makeup to household items.

Vinted is now on level terms with big selling apps such as EBay, and you can literally earn thousands selling your old stuff- with no fees! I’ll show you some tips on how to make the most money.

There are no fees

As there are no fees on Vinted, what you sell your item for is what you get. The buyer even pays the postage for you so it’s all pure profit when you sell an item.

There are a number of couriers you can pick to deliver your items, make sure you have ones local to you to avoid losing out on transport costs. By selecting as many couriers as possible you will encourage buyers as some people only like to use certain couriers as it’s cheaper.

Your listing will not end

Unlike EBay, your item will stay listed for as long as you like. If your item is not that popular, having a longer time to sell it without having to relist is always a bonus.

use clear photos in your listings

Use keywords in your listings

Use as many keywords as possible to describe your items in the title and the description, for example instead of River Island top, put pink, lacey River Island cami top. Try to include as many clear pictures as possible of the product so people know what they’re getting.

Be honest

If you know your top has lots of holes or stains on make sure you’re honest about it. If you’re not when the buyer gets the item they will undoubtedly request a return, and that means no money for you.

How to promote your items

If you want your wardrobe to be noticed there are a few things you can do:

Spotlight your wardrobe

For £7.20 (£1.03 a day) you can promote your whole wardrobe for a week. Your items will appear high within people’s feed encouraging them to take a look. I would probably wait till you’ve listed as much as possible before buying this for maximum impact.

Bump items

You can also bump individual items for 3 or 7 days if there’s something specific you want to sell. Three days costs £1 and seven costs £1.55.

list clothing in bundles to help it sell

Tips on selling clothes

Clothes have to be one of the hardest things to sell on any selling apps. Unless they’re vintage or designer, it takes forever to get a sale right? If you just want to get rid of your clothes and you don’t mind taking a cut in prices, here’s some tips on how you can get more sales on your clothes.

  • Sell your clothes in bundles

If you sell your clothes in bundles of 4-6 items you’re more likely to get sales. If you just want to get rid of them this is a great way of quickly making more room in your wardrobe.

  • Lower your prices

People always want to pay as little as possible, so pricing low will sell your items quicker. You’ll find tops are often listed from £1-£3. When you list your item other similar products will appear so you can get an idea of what to list your item for.

  • Switch your bundle discounts on

If you switch your bundle discounts on, this means you can potentially list your items a little higher to get the price you want whilst offering a discount. Bundle discounts encourage people to buy lots of items as they will get a discount if you do. The discounts available are entirely up to you but my setting are:

-2 items will get a 5% discount
-3 items will get a 10% discount
-5 items will get a 20 discount

I go up an increment for each level of items bought, however if you’re really generous you can offer a lot more (you can offer up to 50%).

  • Accept offers

Whilst you may not want to sell your items for less then you’ve listed, accepting offers is a good way of shifting the item. It’s up to you whether you accept the offer or not, however if an item has been unsold for a long time with no sales, it’s worth giving offers a go.

  • Message buyers who favourite your item

A lot of people will favourite items before they buy anything (you may get tons of favourites on a popular item). You can reply to a person who favourites your item with a discount which may encourage them to buy.

List often

By listing items regularly you’re keeping your wardrobe in the spotlight, and more items means more eyes on your products. Potential buyers may even scroll down to look at your other items if they see something new they like. You’ll also get a star wardrobe award if you list at least five products every 30 days.

Sell at the right time

If you’ve got lots of summer dresses to sell, they probably won’t do so well in winter. Try to list your products around the seasons you’ll think they’ll do the best.

Keep hold of postage products you receive

If you buy a lot of products online make sure you keep the packaging. Items like Jiffy bags and boxes can be pricey if you’re buying them regularly. By recycling packaging you receive your items in, you’re definitely saving yourself some money. You’ll also be playing your part in saving the planet, it’s win win right!

What sells the best on Vinted?

There are some items you can guarantee will sell really well on Vinted, these include:

  • Nintendo games
  • Plushies
  • Kids toys
  • Baby items
  • Vintage clothes
  • Makeup
  • Vinyl
  • Trainers
  • Disney items

If you don’t have any of those available to sell at the moment, you could always scour boot fairs and charity shops to see if you can find cheap items to resell.

Another good idea is to join Vinted promotion and help groups on Facebook. On these groups you can list your wardrobe, and people can like each others items to encourage the Vinted algorithm to show them more.

Some sellers on Vinted are literally making thousands of pounds selling their old items, and with these tips you can start making lots of money too. Now I’ve realised you can sell pretty much anything I am taking it more seriously, and plan on making lots more income soon.
