Easily take your look from day to night with Iconic Day to Slay palette
If you’re looking for a palette that can do it all, take a look at the Iconic Day to Slay eyeshadow palette

The Iconic Day to Slay eyeshadow palette has just dropped and I couldn’t wait to try it. I haven’t tried a lot of Iconic makeup before, but I’m always eager to try out new brands. The palette was £38.25 (normal price is £45.00 but it’s on offer at the moment!) which isn’t a bad price for a palette of this size. You get 20 pink, peach, bronze and gold shades in a range of matte, shimmer and glittery finishes. As the name implies the range of shades are perfect for creating both day and nighttime looks.

When swatching the Iconic Day to Slay palette I found most of the shades were pretty pigmented, some more then others. In The Nude especially is a super faint shade, and I had to apply a fair amount to see any colour. I’m surprised it came out so visible in the final swatch. Marshmallow is also super faint and can only probably be used as a layering shade. If you’re finishing off your look and want to add a bit of glitter Peach Fizz is the shade you want to go for.
In any eyeshadow palette my goto shades are normally the shimmers as I love the finish they give, and I wasn’t disappointed with the shimmers in the Day to Slay palette. My favourite shades are probably Girl Boss, Wonderland and VIP Vibes. Whilst the palette appears to have a range of shades from golds, browns to pinks, I found the actual colour transfer was quite different on some shades. For example Merlot Mondays appears more brown then pink when swatched. The majority also appear to have a gold hue which I love as gold is one of my favourite shades, but some may find it a little overkill.
When swatching the eyeshadow and trying it on I did notice there was a little bit of powder cast off on some of the shades. I was only patting the eyeshadow on gently so that does make me think it won’t be the longest lasting palette.
Now it’s time to try out the Day to Slay palette
So enough about what the Iconic Day to Slay palette is like, now it’s time to try out some looks.

Daytime look – Pink Inspiration
It was quite hard to decide what shades I was going to use in my daytime look, but in the end I went for a pink and gold look. Here’s how you can recreate it:
- First off I applied Champagne Chic to the inner corner of my eye. I love adding gold to my looks as the light reflects off it and the finish is pretty eye catching.
- Next I blended Merlot Mondays out towards the corner of my eye. Whilst Merlot Mondays looks more of a brown shade when swatched, it appears a lot pinker when applied to the eye. I love the contrast the gold and pink creates.
- The finish is a super girly shimmery effect that really brightens my look.

Evening look – Get your smoke on
For the evening look I want to go for something that is a little deeper. I opted for Closing Party and Velvet Crush as they are similar tones, but Velvet Crush will add a lovely bit of definition.
- First I applied Closing Party to the inner corner of my eye and blended outwards. I love the jewelled tones of this shade, it’s so pretty.
- Next to add the contrast I applied Velvet Crush from the mid part of my eye lid outwards to highlight the outline of my eye. If you’re not a fan of the traditional smokey eye look, this is a fantastic alternative.
So what is the quality of the Day to Slay palette like and does it last?
When I was applying the eyeshadow I’m pleased to say there was virtually no cast off. This clearly shows that Day to Slay is a quality palette. The eyeshadows blended pretty well and the colours I used worked well together. The intensity of the eyeshadows lasts all day without fading, especially my night time look.
The palette has a fabulous selection of different shades to create both daytime and evening looks and the shades are easy to work with. I did find some of the pigment in some of the shadows isn’t great, and there was a bit of powder spillage when trying to apply the eyeshadow which may mean it won’t last as long- however it’s still worth buying.
I give it 4/5

Advantages
- Good selection of shades for daytime and evening looks
- The shades are pretty blensable and work well together
- Long lasting finish
- Doesn’t end up all around your eye when you’re applying it- a big plus in my book!
Disadvantages
- The palette does tend to focus centrally on shades that have a golden hue. If you prefer more complex shades this may not be for you.
- Some of the shades lack pigment and you have to work really hard to get the colour to show up
- Some of the eyeshadows breaks up a bit when applying to the brush which means it may not last as long
