It does recommend you enter more than one foundation for the best results, but I got recommended a lot of brands from just choosing the one foundation. The recommended brands were in various price points from Elf Hydrating Camo foundation to Lancôme Ultra Wear Care and Glow foundation.

Cult Beauty foundation finder tool

If you want to try a specific brands foundation but you have no idea which shade is right for you, Cult Beauty’s foundation finder tool is great at helping you to narrow things down.

Simply head to the foundation you want to try, click find my foundation shade and then select a foundation and shade you’ve already tried. It will then recommend a shade in the brand you’ve selected that’s the closest to your current product. It will tell you if it’s a good match or if there’s a slight difference in finish. For example I selected It Cosmetics CC+ and Nude Glow lightweight foundation. After choosing Nars Light Reflecting foundation in Mont Blanc it recommended fair beige, but said it may be more rosy than what I’m currently wearing.

The foundation finder quiz will ask you to select the shades closest to your skin colour, then diversify that further by selecting an image of a woman with a similar skin tone and hair colour to you. Once you’ve selected a skin tone that’s the closest to yours you can choose warm, neutral or cool undertones. After you’ve selected that the tool will ask what sort of foundation you want (something new, recommendation etc) and then provide a list of options to choose from. After completing the quiz I was presented with 12 foundations from a variety brands including BYS, Bobbi Brown and Blendsmart.

They’re great if you already have a few favourite products you’re already wearing, and have already been colour matched.
