How to get a brighter complexion
As we come into winter your skin will inevitably start to feel the effects of the changing seasons. The combination of central heating and harsh winds can cause havoc on your skin and can lead it to start drying out and losing its radiance. Add that to all the after effects of too much alcohol at Christmas and you have a recipe for disaster. So what can you do to keep your face looking radiant? Here’s some of my top tips which will help you get a brighter complexion.
Cleansing your skin will help you get a brighter complexion
Cleansing may be the last thing you want to do when you’ve had a heavy night but it’s incredibly important. Dr Jackson’s face wash is great for both removing makeup and invigorating skin. Kigelia extract and pomegranate work together to scrub away dead skin cells leaving your skin looking soft and glowing. Get it here.
Moisturising will help you get a brighter complexion
First things first, you need to ensure you’re using an effective moisturiser to replenish your skin with the moisture its losing through heavy nights and bad weather.
The Fresh Peony Brightening moisture face cream has been proven to brighten the complexion, providing 24 hour moisture whilst providing protection against the environment.
Key ingredients include peony, liquorice root extracts and vitamin c glucoside. The moisturiser is no longer widely available, but you can probably still find it on eBay.
Reduce dark circles
One of the most obvious signs of dull or tired skin are dark circles. I’ve suffered with them all my life and know what a pain they can be, especially to cover up.
Shiseido’s cutting edge White Lucent anti-dark circles cream uses cutting edge technology to help combat dark circles. It works by inhibiting melanin production or fading existing pigmentation in addition to improving circulation around your eyes.
The Dark Circles cream is no longer available, but you can still buy Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Gel cream to help you get a brighter complexion.
Feed your skin
As well as moisturising your skin, it’s important to replenish vital vitamins. Time Bomb Complexion Cocktail uses B12 to reboot tired skin by speeding up the circulation in the tiny capillaries in your face and making you look more alert.
High levels of vitamins B12, B3 and Brown algae will jolt your skin’s own energy production into gear and restore radiance to your complexion. Don’t forget the plumping effect you’ll get from the powerful blend of 12 amino acids and hyaluronic acid.
It’s no longer widely available, but you can find it on eBay.
Use a primer that will get you a brighter complexion
After washing and priming your skin it’s important to use a primer that will add extra radiance to your look. Tom Ford’s Complexion Enhancing Primer brightens your skin’s undertone and reverses the signs of dullness or fatigue.
The primer is no longer widely available, but you may be able to find it on eBay. As an alternative I recommend ELF Halo Glow Filter, it’s so much cheaper, and gives a beautiful glow.
Use a brightening foundation
After applying your primer you’ll want to complete your look with a foundation that will brighten your complexion. Bareminerals Bareskin Pure Brightening serum foundation is a 2 in 1 skin serum and mineral foundation. It provides a natural finish and helps add a natural radiance to your skin. The primer is no longer widely available, but you may be able to find it on eBay.
Instead I would recommend Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter foundation. It helps to illuminate skin, and make pores and fine lines appear smoother. You can buy it here.
