7 ways to permanently switch to cruelty free beauty products
Many companies nowadays still test beauty products on animals, even though there are other, more humane options. Every day animals like mice and rats – even cats and dogs – undergo extremely cruel experiments in the pursuit of new beauty products. In order to avoid this unnecessary cruelty and raise eco-friendly awareness among people all over the world, we should all try to make a gradual change in our daily lives. There are so many great reasons to make the switch to cruelty free products, and you can start slowly, taking one step at a time.
Take one step at a time
Many tips for switching suggest starting slowly and gradually. When you make that decision to start a change in your lifestyle, make sure to take one step at a time. Don’t overhaul your whole collection of beauty products at once. Start by evaluating your products, check their labels and whether they are already cruelty free. Then decide which of them you are going to continue using and which you are going to switch for some more eco-friendly alternatives.
Don’t be wasteful
When considering making the switch it’s important to still remain eco friendly. There’s no need to throw out the half-used products you already own. Make sure to use up what’s left of them and then when you finish up a certain product, buy a new, better, cruelty free alternative. In that way, we are respectful of the environment. It would be quite harmful to our ecosystem to pour down the drain all the products that use animal testing in their labs. However, if you still don’t want to use up the products but you want to be eco-friendly, consider donating them to a friend.
Do your research on cruelty free brands
There are many brands which produce different kind of beauty products but unfortunately, not all of them are trustworthy. That’s why we need to be very cautious and look for them in the right place. It’s good to find from a trusted source and print out a list of beauty products that are cruelty-free. For example, if you’re interested in switching to natural nail polish products, you can easily search for the products that are cruelty free or you can even book a service at a nail care salon, which uses only cruelty free products.
When shopping, look for bunnies
It’s good to know how to evaluate the product based on its packaging. When shopping and checking out products, search for a bunny logo. The bunny logo tells you that a certain beauty product is cruelty-free. But be careful, as not all bunny logos are the same. Basically, there are three trustworthy beauty logos including the Leaping Bunny logo, PETA’s Caring Consumer bunny, and the Choose Cruelty-Free rabbit. These are official logos. Any other bunny logo doesn’t certify that the product is cruelty-free. So you need to be cautious and it’s always a good idea to verify the product’s status by checking a certified list of cruelty free beauty products.
Take into account all the beauty products you use
Beauty products don’t include only makeup. Beauty and cosmetic products include all products we use to care for our bodies including dental care, hair care, nail care, skincare as well as cleaning supplies and laundry detergents. All of them usually have a few cruelty free alternatives, you just need to know where and how to search for these.
Don’t use copies of products
Makeup dupes are usually a more affordable option from the original high-end product. But the quality is also lowered together with the price. In order to find a perfect cruelty-free makeup product, make sure to check out the mid-range and high-end products. You’ll be surprised to see how many products you can find at an affordable price, that are of high quality.
Try out new brands and their products
This is the perfect opportunity for you to check out some new brands and products. You’ll feel way better when you switch to products that are cruelty-free, kind to the environment and to your health as well. There are so many brands out there to choose from. Try to find small companies that sell handcrafted and green products – you won’t regret it.
Switching to alternative beauty products is a big change but it has a massive impact on the world around you. So, if you want to make your contribution to the world, start by switching to cruelty free, green and natural products.

Great tips. There are lots of cruelty free make up out there now. I recently received a Pip box which contains cruelty free goodies each month. A great way to try out different brands.
Yeah I’ve heard of them , do you recommend the products?
I’m very conscious of checking to see whether a future buy is vegan AND cruelty-free and some companies aren’t fully there yet. A local school takes various empty cosmetic containers/ face mask packets, etc which earns them much needed funds so I am happy that the waste isn’t going to landfill needlessly. I just need to work on reducing my stash a bit……
I think we all buy too much makeup, I know I do ?you’re still doing your bit though which all helps
Step by step is Definately the way to go – i so dislike waste of any kind
Every little helps!
Thanks for the information, I had no idea that there were 3 different cruelty 3 logos and that others shouldn’t be trusted. I will definitely be keeping this in mind when next purchasing.
Yeah there’s always a bit of confusion around these things. Glad it has helped ?
This was a very interesting read loads of bits I didn’t know about
