Have you ever looked at someone with beautiful skin and wondered how they achieved it? Whilst skincare is important, good skin comes from within so taking care of your body will always result in great skin. Here’s five habits you need to take up if you want beautiful skin.

Great skincare routine

Have a great skincare routine

A regular skincare routine is essential for beautiful skin. By using skincare products aimed at your skin type, you can reduce dryness, keep skin looking smooth and hydrated and avoid your pores clogging which can cause acne.

Regularly moisturising your skin will help trap water in your skin, keeping the skin looking plump and youthful looking for longer. Using anti aging serums that contain retinol will also target fine lines and wrinkles.

You don’t have to fork out for lots of money on expensive products either; there are plenty of high street brands such as Soap and Glory or Nivea that can target skin concerns such as dryness or oiliness. Look for key ingredients such as hyaluronic acid for dry skin or salicylic acid to target acne.

keep your body hydrated

Keep your body hydrated

As important as a good skincare routine is, you need to make sure you maintain adequate hydration from the inside. Every cell in your body needs water to function, and your skin, the biggest organ in your body is made of 64% water. If you’re not staying hydrated it’s clear why your skin will start to become dull and tired.

As well as keeping your brain, digestive and immune system functioning at their best, a hydrated body will mean your skin looks more elastic, prevents dryness and gives skin a healthier glow.

You need around 8 glasses of water a day, but that doesn’t mean it has to be plain water. There are lots of hydrating tasty drinks that are good for you and will make it easier for you to get your daily requirement of fluids.

get adequate sleep

Getting adequate sleep

The hours when you sleep is when your body can recharge, so if you’re getting little or no sleep your body and skin will start to suffer. You may find you feel sluggish, your skin may start to look tired and you will probably develop dark circles.

If you’re an insomniac or you find it hard to stop overthinking your day, getting the right amount of sleep can be hard. However there are ways you can start to improve your sleep, and that includes making your bedroom a sleep only zone, eliminating the use of devices a hour before bed, and working out to tire yourself out. Whilst it’s obvious you should avoid sun beds, even a small amount of exposure can still cause damage, even on a cloudy day. You can work to avoid that and keep your beautiful skin for longer by using SPF regularly. SPF 50 is recommended for the best protection, but SPF 30 will still protect your skin from most of the suns rays. Look for a SPF product that protects against both UVA and UVB rays for the ultimate protection.

have a nutritious diet

Maintain a balanced diet

A good diet can help you keep beautiful skin for longer, mainly due to the vitamins and antioxidants that keep your body healthy. Make sure you eat products rich in omega 3 such as fish, as they have hydrating and anti inflammatory properties. If you can’t eat too much fish you can always incorporate omega 3 supplements into your diet.

Try to avoid over processed, high in fat, and high sugar foods as they provide very little nutrition for your body. That McDonald’s may taste good, but the high fat and sugar content if eaten in excess can cause to weight gain, potential oily skin and acne.
