NYX Powder Puff Lippie Powder lip cream kiss proof test

It’s one of the newest releases from NYX and NYX Powder Puff Lippie cream promises super kissable lips. I put them to the test

With its promise of super soft, kissable lips I was super excited to try NYX Powder Puff Lippie Powder lip cream. Available in 16 shades from dark brown to punky purple there’s quite a variety of shades to get your teeth into. It has a unique formula that means it starts out as a wet mousse and dries into a soft powder.

For my review I’m trying out Puppy Love and Best Buds. I’ve tried many liquid lipsticks that fade or disappear after just a few hours, so i wasn’t sure how long the soft powder finish would last. Puppy Love is a mid rose pink shade that looks really pretty on. The lipstick has a soft cushion applicator that the product gets squeezed into, this gives you the subtle soft powder look.

It was easy to apply on my bottom lip, but it was a little trickier on the top as I couldn’t really see where the sponge applicator was aiming. Unfortunately Puppy Love only lasted for a hour or so before disappearing completely. There was not a trace of it left which is good in some respects as you’re not faced with that awkward moment of your colleagues wondering what happened to your lipstick when only half is left.

Best Buds is a more of a subtle matte pink, whilst Puppy Love is a lot brighter. It was pretty easy to apply and most of the lipstick spread evenly, although there was a small patch that seemed to clump slightly. My lips aren’t that dry so I’m not sure why it dried like this.

The lipstick dries very quickly so you do need to apply it quite quickly to avoid getting lumpy patches of lipstick. With both lipsticks my lips felt soft and it didn’t seem like I was wearing any product at all. If you’re not a fan of that sticky, dry feeling you get with some matte lipsticks you will be a fan.

NYX Powder Puff Lippie Powder lip cream feels really comfortable to wear and gives a subtle pop of colour. They also have a lovely range of shades so there’s a lipstick you can wear on those low key makeup days and when you really want to stand out. Unfortunately it really doesn’t last very long and after a hour or so both Puppy Love and Best Buds had completely disappeared.

Advantages

• The sponge applicator makes it really comfortable to apply
• The lipstick does not feel drying
• It is not heavy on the lips and it doesn’t seem like I’m wearing any product at all

Disadvantages

• Does not last very long at all
• The lipstick dries quickly so you don’t have that long to apply
• Some of the formula seems to clump a little
