So admittedly when I first heard about Honey I didn’t think much of it. It was only when the ad kept popping up screaming how much savings I could make that my interest was peaked. As you know if you’re a regular reader of Glitz and Glamour makeup, I love saving money. Whether it’s through cashback websites, or using vouchers, where there’s a will there’s a way. So what is Honey? Honey is quite simply a browser extension that monitors what you’re buying and tells you when you can make big savings. With a average discount of 17.92% per purchase, this is one browser extension you need in your life.

Honey is a free browser extension that works on most browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer etc. There are over 28,000 participating merchants in the program, so chances are whatever you’re planning to buy you should get a discount on it. Once you’ve installed the extension, sign up and you should remain logged in indefinitely (unless you log out of course!). With the extension active simply shop as you would normally and Honey will get to work. The fabulous thing about Honey is that it’s all automatic. The extension works by scanning the internet for vouchers and codes which can help reduce the cost of your shopping. Basically it does all the hard work you used to do searching for vouchers, for you. Once you’ve put everything in your basket head to the checkout and Honey should automatically alert you to a number of vouchers it’s found for you. Click apply and it will process the available vouchers it’s found on the net and sees if they will work on reducing the cost of your order. The vouchers don’t always work and sometimes you won’t get any discounts but you won’t have lost anything by giving it a go.

Imagine my surprise when I got a email from Honey telling me my Honey Gold for my Charlotte Tilbury purchase had credited. I earned around 636 in Honey gold which can be saved up until I have enough to redeem a gift voucher. Just like I did, everytime you shop you will get discounts and earn Honey Gold which gradually builds up towards lots of cashback for you. A £10.00 voucher costs 1400 in Honey Gold and can be redeemed for vouchers from lots of different high street stores. The vouchers are all from big names like ASOS, Gap, Spotify, Adidas, M&S and lots more. Whilst the notion of cashback isn’t anything new, I just love how I can get discounts on my shopping as well as earning money towards a shopping voucher to treat myself to something new.

Honey is definitely one of my favourite finds when it comes to saving money. It’s so easy to use and takes the effort out of finding ways to reduce the costs of my shopping.
