Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to show your loved one just how much they mean to you. So what sort of things should you plan to mark the occasion this year? Valentine’s Day shouldn’t have to be expensive, with the date falling just weeks after Christmas a lot of you don’t have a huge amount of money to throw away. Whilst weekends away and candlelit dinners are romantic, they don’t come cheap. Why not make the most of Valentine’s Day by doing something where you can spend time together without spending lots of money. Each of my tips costs £25.00 or under and will put the fun back into Valentine’s Day. Check out my tips on 5 inexpensive and fun things you can do this year.

Goto a museum (or several)

Museums are a great way to learn something new, breathe in the culture and spend some precious time with your beau. London has a lot of free museums for you to enjoy, all you need to fork out for is the train fare. If you go during off peak hours you’ll also be able to travel on the tube for just £2.80 in zones 1-4.

Cost: Free (you just need to pay for your travel)

Show off your best figure 8

Ice skating is one of the best inexpensive things to do on Valentine’s Day. It works a lot of core muscles in your leg so you’ll be getting an amazing work out, and you can show your partner your best figure 8. Alternatively if your ice skating skills are a little lacking, you can use 2020 to up your skills and learn to ice skate as a couple.

If you’ve read my recent post on the Prison Van, you’ll know I love a escape room. If you’ve not tried one before, a escape room requires 2-8 people to work together to escape the room. As a couple it’ll be super intense and you’ll love helping to solve the challenges together. There are escape rooms all over the country and prices generally range from £15.00-£25.00 per person.

Go bowling

Think you can score a strike? Bowling is a fun inexpensive treat where you can relax and have fun. Most bowling alleys often have a arcade attached so one you’ve finished your game, you can play on the 2p machine, challenge each other on who’s the best rally driver and even see how many dinosaurs you can kill. Don’t forget your slush puppy on your way out!

Cost: around £15.00 per person, plus any money you want to spend in the arcade!

Quiz night

Pubs and bars all over the country hold quiz nights where you can put your general knowledge to the test. Most quizzes offer a cash price so you might even go home with more then you went with. A really fun, cheap way to spend time as a couple on Valentine’s Day.
