Experiment with colour with Fenty Holo Daze Snap Shadows
When you’re stuck inside with little to do, that can be one of the perfect times to try out a new makeup look. I was due to get a haircut this weekend, but alas due to (yet another) lockdown that’s gone out of the window. So I put that time to good use by trying out Fenty Beauty Holo Daze Snap Shadows eyeshadow palette (buy it here as part of a set).

Tell me more about the Fenty Beauty Holo Daze Snap Shadows palette
The palette has a collection of six shades, three are in vibrant shimmer finishes and three in matte tones. The palette features Violet Vibez, Royal Dazzle, Blood Moon, Concrete Lavender, Honey Splash and Brownie Babe. I love how vibrant Violet Vibez is and how it literally pops, and the deep intense shade of Blood Moon.
So what are Holo Daze Snap Shadows like when swatched?
Surprisingly the shimmery shades took a while to build up the colour intensity. It did take a few applications to the palette to get the result you can see in the swatch. After I’ve built up the colour the purple and red appear really vibrant, whilst the gold is a lot lighter. The eyeshadows are super soft like butter and my brush was literally making dents in the eyeshadow, even though I was only applying the brush lightly. The matte shades on the other hand were so easy to build colour up with and appear really bold and strong. I normally find matte shades are harder to work with so that’s quite unusual. Concrete Lavender also looks really different swatched to how it appears in the pan. It looks white in the pan but is a really cute pink like shade when swatched. The brush barely marked the matte eyeshadows and I can imagine they will last quite a while.
Want to know what sort of look you can create? I tried out three of Holo Daze Snap Shadows shimmery shades so you can see what they look like on.
Purple Haze
I was going to create two looks using the gold, red and purple, however the gold was so faint when applied it was unworkable. In the video you can see the look I created with the red and purple. I did use the gold shade but as more of a softening shade then as a central part of the look.
When I started applying the eyeshadow and needed a bit more for the brush, the red shadow literally burst apart and created a bit of a mess in the palette. The purple wasn’t as bad but literally a few swipes and it looks like I’ve used the top layer of the eyeshadow. I found there was a bit of fall out that fell under my eyes but it wasn’t too bad.
I think the red and purple work really well together for a playful look that you could wear to festivals or a night out with friends.
By the afternoon the purple shade (Violet Vibez) had started to fade. By nighttime some of the eyeshadow was still visible but half had faded; notably the purple eyeshadow which had almost disappeared entirely. The red shade (Blood Moon) however was still visible but it’s intensity had reduced slightly.
Final thoughts
Whilst it doesn’t have a huge colour range, this palette will be perfect for a festival or for a more conservative look using the matte shades. The palette wasn’t quite what I was expecting, especially as the gold doesn’t really work as a shade on its own. There was also a lot of fall out and I don’t see the shimmery shades lasting very long at all if you use it regularly. The matte shades on the other hand will probably last a long time. However the shades do blend well together and I love the playful look the palette can create.
I give it:

Advantages of the Holo Daze Snap Shadows palette
- Perfect for taking on your travels
- The palette is great for creating some really playful looks
- Once applied the shimmery shades are very vibrant and intense
- The matte shades are super intense and easy to work with
Disadvantages
- The shades are really buttery and break apart easily. They’re unlikely to last that long
- The gold shade doesn’t really show up at all when applied
So do you fancy trying out the palette? I’m giving away a Fenty Beauty set which contains the eyeshadow palette and the Fenty Beauty Full Frontal mascara.
