Primark’s hottest mascaras review: Get a false lash effect for under £5

I’m normally a pretty avid visitor of Primark, but thanks to the numerous lockdowns and my hatred of queues, I haven’t managed to buy anything for over a year (gasp). However my Primark starvation ended last week and I enjoying getting to explore their various new collections. Amongst them I spotted three mascaras I’d not seen before; PS Sooo Extra mascara!, PS Wonder Lash mascara and PS Double Act mascara. In true Primark spirit they were all under £5.00 which is a bargain in itself. A few years ago I did a similar post on some of the mascaras Primark had out at the time, some of them were pretty good and I’m hoping these will be too. Discover what I thought of each mascara and make sure you watch the video to see my first impressions.
PS Sooo Extra! mascara review
PS Sooo Extra! mascara comes in a cute hot pink metallic tube and claims to add extravagant volume and length to your lashes. It has a plastic wand with bristles of varying size spread along the wand, and at the top it also has a interesting club sized set of bristles set apart from the rest. The brush was really uncomfortable and felt quite scratchy when I applied it. The mascara did add quite a lot of lift to my lashes from the first swipe, although I can’t say it added that much volume. I added two layers of mascara to see if I could get a bit more volume and length, however it didn’t really do much to be honest. One layer is more then enough with this mascara. Initially I wasn’t too impressed with the results but after trying it a few times, it’s a lot better then I thought. As I mentioned above it’s really good at giving lash lift and my lashes looked pretty defined. You can buy PS Sooo Extra! mascara in all good Primark stores for just £2.50.
So does PS Sooo Extra! mascara last?
Overall the mascara fared pretty well and my lashes still had some lift at the end of the day. It doesn’t shed black flakes either which is a win in my book.

PS Wonder Lash mascara review
I was super excited to try PS Wonder Lash mascara as the before and after photo on the box looked really impressive. It has a long rubber slim wand which helps to grab your lashes in one go. The mascara did feel comfortable to apply and it didn’t irritate my eyes. The formula is pretty wet so I was left with a few inky splodges here and there, but that was easy enough to sort out. After one layer of PS Wonder Lash mascara I was really impressed with how full my lashes seemed. I applied the second layer and it really helped to further increase the volume and lift of my lashes. The mascara did reach all my lashes, even the outer ones that are normally missed by most mascaras. The results were lifted, well defined lashes with a decent amount of volume.
So does PS Wonder Lash mascara last all day?
For most of the day the mascara kept my lashes looking full and defined. By the end of the day however, whilst the mascara was still there, my lashes had lost their lift and looked a bit flat. It also deposited small bits of mascara around my eyes which is a little annoying.

PS Double Act mascara review
I would probably say PS Double Act is definitely one of Primark’s more premium mascaras in consideration of the packaging and pricing. However it still is just £3.00 which is a pretty amazing price. It claims to help build volume and length through its two sided mascara wand. One side is flat to build length, whilst the other is fat to build volume. I have to say I didn’t really notice much of a difference in either side as they both looked the same to me. If you watch the video do let me know if you can see the difference. Unlike PS Sooo Extra mascara this brush wasn’t uncomfortable to apply and felt really soft on my lashes. One layer of mascara lengthened my lashes quite well, although there was a small amount of clumping towards the outer lashes. Once I added two layers though the mascara came into its own. My lashes were well defined, lifted and fuller then they were originally. After putting eyeliner on I could still see the mascara which was fabulous as normally it disappears amongst the intensity of the eyeliner. Definitely a mascara you’ll want to pick up on your next Primark spree.
Does Double Act mascara last for long?
I’m pleased to say PS Double Act mascara was probably the longest lasting out all the mascaras. By 11.30 pm the mascara looked pretty much exactly the same as it did when I first applied it. It doesn’t smudge either and none of the mascara dropped around my eyes.

So which of the new Primark mascaras is the best?
I would say PS Wonder Lash and Ps Double Act come pretty close in terms of performance. They’re both £3.00 and five fantastic volume and lift. However I would probably say Double Lash is the best, just because it seemed to give my lashes the most definition, volume and lift and it lasts all day without budging.

Oh wow I had no idea primark did makeup! I’ve not been in ages haha. I did buy some facewipes from there a few years ago and it made my eyes stingy and puffy so I’m a bit reluctant to buy beauty items from them!

I never even knew Primark did makeup! Great to know
Deffo worth buying and having a try, I love make up tips and Primark do some lovely make up 🙂
Hey, just wondering which one you rated higher. Your review says ‘double lash’ is better but one is ‘wonder lash’ and the other is ‘double act’, so I can’t tell which one you mean. Just wondering as I have both on my list to buy as I already use wonder Lash and want to know the verdict on double Act. Thank you! 😊
Double lash was my fave.:)
