Maybelline Dream Velvet foundation aims to give you fresh flawless skin with the first ever gel whipped foundation. Skin is left looking smooth with a velvet like finish for 12 hours. With its hydrating properties the foundation claims to be long lasting without drying out. It’s currently available in 6 shades.

The lowdown on Maybelline Dream Velvet foundation

The consistency of the foundation was very creamy with more of a fluid feel to it than most matte foundations. I couldn’t really say it really reminded me of a gel though. The foundation which is in shade ivory was a decent colour match and gave pretty good coverage. After applying the foundation I applied powder and MUA makeup fixer as I do with any other foundation. After I had finished my makeup I felt my skin looked really fresh and glowing.

By evening I was disappointed to find the foundation had pretty much disappeared completely. My makeup didn’t look fresh anymore and felt my face looked really tired. It was a shame to see how much it had faded as it looked really beautiful when I first applied it. This is one foundation that really doesn’t live up to the 12 hour wear promise.

• By evening pretty much all the foundation has faded away and my look is definitely no longer fresh.
