Honest Beauty Bay mystery box review: Worth the hype?

beauty bay mystery box

When I was a kid I loved getting lucky bags as there were so many surprise sweets and toys. Now I’m an adult I replace that love for lucky bags with mystery beauty boxes. I’ve tried a few mystery beauty boxes in my time, but the Beauty Bay mystery box is one of my favourites as you get so much for your money. The last time I got my hands on a Beauty Bay mystery box was around Spring 2023, I was curious to know how different the contents would be in 2024’s box.

The mystery box contains 10 beauty essentials worth up to £94 for just £29.95. There’s a selection of skincare and makeup so you don’t need to choose between the two. There could be anything from Beauty Bay’s Brightening eye treatments to their must have eyeshadow palettes.

I couldn’t wait to unbox my Beauty Bay surprises. Join me in my excitement as I reveal my first impressions in my unboxing video below:

If you’d rather just know what was inside here’s a recap:

Beauty Bay Colloidal Oatmeal + Oat Lipid Moisturiser

This rich moisturiser can be used day and night to hydrate and replenish skin. My skin is crying out for moisture right now so hopefully this works well!

Beauty Bay Powder Blusher in Blossom

I do really like the rich rosy shade in this blush, it also has lots of gold pigment running through it so looks like it will really brighten my complexion.

Beauty Bay Smoky eyeshadow palette

Every Beauty Bay mystery box comes with a eyeshadow palette. Mine came with Smoky, a palette full of rich matte and shimmery smoky shades.

Beauty Bay liquid cream blush in Spring

I’ve bought so many cream blushers lately, but it’s always good to add new ones to my collection. This is in quite a light pink shade, so I think it will give a lovely natural flush.

Beauty Bay Brow Fixer Fibre Gel in Teddy

Designed to give you fluffy, more defined brows, this helps you to create a more natural look. It seems like quite a dark shade but I will give it a try to see what it’s like.

Beauty Bay Vitamin C + Niacinamide Cleansing Gel

Feel like your skin is lacking something lately? Vitamin C is great at helping brighten the complexion. I’m mainly using more gentle products at the moment, but I will see how my skin gets on with it.

Beauty Bay Gel Lip Liner Duo in Saddle and Truffle

I don’t really use lip liners, and these are really quite dark so not my kind of thing. Unwanted beauty products are never wasted though as you can sell them to make a bit of extra money.

Beauty Bay Hydrating Lip Tint in Brownie

I do love getting lip products in my beauty boxes, but again Brownie is probably a little too dark a shade for me.

Beauty Bay Eye Base

I don’t typically use eye primers or bases, but I guess if I have an occasion where I really want my eyeshadow to last this may come in handy.

Beauty Bay Hydrocolloid Spot Patches

These spot patches contain salicylic acid and tea tree oil so they’re great if you’re having a breakout. It contains 144 patches so you really do get value for your money. I don’t really get breakouts so I probably won’t use these, but for those that do they would come in handy.

My Beauty Bay mystery box did have a good mix of skincare and makeup products in. There are definitely some products I won’t use and will sell on, but there’s some like the moisturiser, eyeshadow palette and blushers that I think I will use quite a bit. For just under £30 you definitely get your moneys worth.

This particular mystery box has now sold out but Beauty Bay are always coming out with more boxes so keep checking in.
