7 days of lipstick challenge
As a beauty Junkie I’m always buying new makeup products- whether it’s mascara, eyeshadow or lipstick I have a whole drawer full of products. Get a sneak peek into my collection as I unveil 7 days of lipstick – I will try a new lipstick each day for a week.
Lottie London lipstick in Slay All Day
Slay All Day in Slay It is a bold pillar box matte red lipstick by Lottie London. I’ve tried quite a few of their highlighters and eyeshadows but not too many lip products till recently. The formula is quite thick but it did take a few applications to get full coverage. It feels comfortable to wear and isn’t drying.
Whilst most of the lipstick lasts all day it fades pretty quickly on the inner part of my lip. As a result it looks pretty daft when I open my lips. Overall a bold colour that’d be good for a night out but it definitely needs regular Touching up.
MUA Sweet Sheen lip balm in Cherry Bomb
Not strictly a lipstick but it does have bright vivid colour so I’ll include it. The balm is a lot more moisturising then a typical lipstick but that does make getting even colour a little tricky. The balm seems quite wet and did seem to slip a little which resulted in uneven application. I used a lip brush to get all over colour on my lips.
The balm adds a hint of colour so it’d be good for a light makeup look. It feels super comfortable to wear.
Miss Sporty lipstick in My Favorite Pink
This budget beauty is a dark pinky red that has a rich moisturising formula. Whilst the lipstick has a slanted bullet the consistency of the lipstick is again quite wet so it did go a little outside of the lines of my lips.
The lipstick doesn’t last very long and after a few hours it had disappeared.
MUA Sweet Sheen lip balm in Rouge Rumba
This is another lip balm but the colour is a lot more vibrant than Cherry Bomb. The formula is as moisturising as the pinker shade but I did notice the colour a lot more.
Again it doesn’t last that long and after a few hours it had pretty much disappeared.
L’Oreal Paris infallible lipstick in Oops I Pink It again
This matte lipstick from L’Oreal is in a dark vibrant pink shade. The lipstick is a little different to normal as you have to dip the sponge tip into the lid to get extra colour.
The formula is quite dry and I had to keep dipping the tip into the lid to get full coverage. It does feel a little uncomfortable to wear because of the dryness and lasts for around 3 hours before fading away. I don’t feel the colour is as bright on as it appears in the tube. It doesn’t leave any residue when the lipstick disappears.
Max Factor Honey Lacquer in Floral Ruby
Max Factor Honey Lacquer is a bit of a hybrid – it has the pigment of a lipstick, the shine of a gloss and the hydration of a lip balm. When I first applied it I couldn’t help but notice how sticky the formula was. The lacquer was easy to apply and the colour was quite strong although there were a few bare patches as it wipes off easily.
It has shiny finish and felt relatively comfortable to wear. The product dries really quickly and if I missed a bit I couldn’t spread it very easily. Unfortunately the stickiness did mean my hair stuck to my lips slightly when the wind blew – memories of the past I thought I’d buried. Max Factor lip lacquer does not last that long and after a couple of hours it had disappeared.
Makeup Revolution lipstick in Dare
This budget beauty has a bright pigmented bullet in a vibrant red. It did feel slightly drying when I applied it but it soon settles down and feels fine to wear. Unfortunately it doesn’t last very long and after a few hours the lipstick had gone.
I’m unable to find Dare online but Atomic Ruby is very similar and is only £1.00.
During my 7 days of lipstick I found that most of the lipsticks I used with a shimmery formula only lasted a few hours. The matte lipstick lasted a lot longer albeit some of it did fade so it would need touching up. Most of them felt comfortable to wear asides from L’Oréal Infallible lipstick in Oops I Pink it Again which in my opinion was probably my least favourite out of the challenge.
