When you’ve spent months trying the latest fad diets and depriving yourself of your favorite treats, it may seem like the ultimate victory when you finally hit your ideal goal weight.

All of that sacrifice seems worth it as you try out trendy new clothes and snap your new look on Instagram. So what happens when things start to slip? Whilst short term diets and cutting out carbs may work in the short term – in the long run you may slip back into old routines and the weight piles back on. The best way to lose weight is to avoid the fad diets and come up with a weight loss plan you can stick to. I’ll give you some tips on how you can reach your goal weight.

If you want to reach your goal weight don’t deprive yourself of treats

You may think eating healthy means no treats at all. If that was the case life would be a very boring place– think of all the cocktails you’d miss out on! The key thing to consider is the 80:20 rule. If you eat healthily during the week then you can definitely let your hair down and have one of your favourite treats at the weekend.

  • Top tip no 1 – If you want to reach your goal weight, try not to go overboard, whilst your favourite treat may be KFC, eating a whole Zinger meal may undo all your good work. Aim to eat the healthiest version of the treat you want – for example why not try the Toasted Twister Wrap instead (only 480 calories)
  • Top tip no 2 – don’t snack in front of the telly. Often you’ll zone out and if your snack is bottomless you’ll just keep eating. If you want a snack have it where you can focus on what you’re eating.
