how to pack your parcels to save money, time and the environment

Do you send a lot of parcels? Hate the way postage always seems so expensive? Find out how to save money, time and the environment with my top tips

As a beauty blogger I run a lot of competitions. Whilst some of the competitions I run will have the promoters contact the winners, often I run my own independent competitions where I send out my own prizes. Considering the cost of postage is incredibly important as I have to figure in the best way of sending out the prizes. Thanks to technology, it’s easier than ever before for me to send a parcel to winners, friends and family but if I didn’t package my parcels correctly, I could end up wasting time and money.

There’s a lot of mistakes you can make when packing your parcels, so to help ensure you get it right, below you’ll discover some great tips that I find really useful in helping me to save money and balancing my postage costs.

Making sure your packaging is light and compact

When packaging your parcel, it’s a good idea to use as little packaging as possible. This isn’t just because unnecessary packaging is annoying, but it’s also wasteful and ultimately will make the parcel more expensive to send. You’ll obviously still want to make sure the goods inside are well protected, but a little bubble wrap is all you really need. It’s light, compact and won’t take up too much room inside the parcel.

It costs much more to send a parcel if it’s weighed down by heavy, unnecessary packaging. Therefore, making it as light as possible is going to save you a lot of money.

Consider eco-friendly packaging

Another way to save money, while also doing your bit for the environment is to use eco-friendly packaging. If you take a look online, you’ll be able to compare different prices and find eco-friendly packaging at a low, affordable price.

Global warming is a real issue today, so if like many people you’re trying to lower your carbon footprint, choosing eco-friendly packaging is a good place to start.

Choosing the best courier

Once you’ve invested in the best packaging, it’s time to choose the best courier service. Comparing different services through sites such as, lets you find the cheapest deals. Just be sure to focus on courier reputation as well as cost.

You want to save money sending gifts to friends and family, but you also want to know they’re actually going to get there! A cheap courier isn’t necessarily the best option. Ideally, you’ll want a courier which offers a tracking service too, so you can see exactly where the parcel is and when it’s been delivered.

These are some of the best tips to follow to ensure you’re packaging your parcels correctly. If you follow the advice above, you’ll be able to save money and time when sending your beauty gifts to friends and family.
