I love trying new restaurants and when Miller & Carter steakhouse came to Maidstone I couldn’t wait to try it. I love a good steak and have heard lots of good things about the brand. If you’ve not been yet and you’re unsure whether it’s right for you, hopefully my review will make things clearer.

What is Miller & Carter Maidstone restaurant like?

Located in the former Vintage Inns White Rabbit hotel/restaurant, the new restaurant features the same classic design and features. It has a large car park which is free during your stay (make sure you validate your license number at reception) and a large beer garden. The hotel, the InnKeepers Lodge is still there and nothings changed in that regard. If you’re staying at the hotel and you want a bit more choice as to what to do/ what other restaurants to go to, it’s worth checking out these event venues.

What is the food like at Miller & Carter Maidstone steakhouse?

The main selling point of Miller & Carter Maidstone steakhouse is obviously their steaks. They pride themselves on serving 30 day aged steaks that use both wet and dry ageing techniques for optimum flavour. If you don’t fancy steak they also have options such as Chefs Confit Duck leg or Chargrilled 14 day Himalayan salt aged pork cutlet.

Miller & Carter steakhouse is often really busy (especially at the weekend) so we did have to book quite a few weeks ahead. We went on a Saturday and the weather was warm, but it wasn’t too hot inside. We were greeted quickly and didn’t have to wait long to be taken to our lovely window table. The waiter was pretty attentive and we didn’t have to wait long for him to come to take our order.

When I visited I opted for the fillet steak which came with a balsamic beef tomato, onion loaf, lettuce wedge dressing and chunky chips. I also had a Strawberry twist which contains cranberry juice, apple juice and strawberry purée. The non alcohol cocktail was delicious and so refreshing- perfect for a hot summers day in the beer garden. My friend went for the Roasted Shallot Tarte Tatin and a Cosmopolitan (featuring Cointreau, cranberry and lime juice). I have my steak well done as I don’t like any blood from my steak, and even cooked that much it’s still juicy and full of flavour. Other restaurants I’ve gone too that have served well done steaks, often serve quite dry and tasteless meat. My friend really enjoyed her meal as well and thought it was cooked perfectly.

Are there any downsides to the Miller & Carter steakhouse?

The only major downside I would say about the Maidstone Miller & Carter steakhouse is that their vegetarian option is pretty limited. Whilst obviously you wouldn’t necessarily choose to go to a steakhouse if you’re a vegetarian, if all your friends and family go there you don’t have much choice but to go along. The prices are also quite steep as well so it’s definitely a restaurant you’ll go to for a special treat.

I really enjoyed my experience at Miller & Carter Maidstone and can’t wait to go back. Have you tried the restaurant before? If so what did you think of it. Let me know in the comments.
