10 top Spring/Summer 2018 beauty trends you need to know about
January brings a fresh new focus on the beauty trends for Spring/Summer 2018. Hot this year are glittery makeup, rhinestone accessories, bright eyeshadow and the return of nail art. Whatever you style you’ll be sure to find inspiration in some of the hottest beauty trends to emerge this year.
Glitter beauty trends
If you didn’t know about it before you will now. Glitter makeup is very much one of the beauty trends in this year. Whether it’s glitter eyeshadow or glitter lips, the trend was showcased by Topshop, Undercover and Stella Jean at the catwalks. Rhinestones have come into their own and were featured by Givenchy, Jeremy Scott and Dries van Noten.
Flawless skin
Flawless supermodel like skin is another big beauty trend for Spring/Summer 2018. Inspired by supermodels Naomi, Claudia and Cindy the trend is about creating a smooth glowing complexion.
The modern cat eye
Eyeliner flicks are considered more of a winter beauty trend, but Spring/Summer 2018 brings a fresh new approach to the look. Instead of traditional styles you can try a exaggerated petrol blue swoop or reverse feline flicks.
Go short
Have you ever wanted to go for a short bob but scared it won’t suit you? Short cuts were very much in on the catwalks with Moschino and Armani featuring faux chops. If you’re not sure if it’s right for you then adjust your hair by pinning and clipping it so you get the shortness without it being permanent.
Nail art is back
If you loved adorning your nails with pretty designs you’ll be happy to know nail art is making a comeback. Top on the list of designs was crystal embellishment by Philipp Plein, ombré glitter by Tom Ford and logo manis at Helmut Lang.
Hair clips have returned
It’s been a long time since hair clips were in fashion. Spring/Summer 2018 brings hair clips back to the forefront of the fashion and beauty sphere. Worn on the catwalk were designs such as Sixties style headbands and proper hair clips worn like a schoolgirl just above the ear. Versace wore their clips sleek and refined whilst Simon Rocha focused on prettifying theirs with pearls.
Bright colour pop lips
This summer is all about bright vibrant pink and red lips. Dolce & Gabbana featured cherry pop shades, whilst fuschia pinks ruled the show at Chanel.
Fringe is in
If you wanted hair inspiration this year then you might want to try a sweeping fringe. Demonstrated by top designer brands at the catwalk shows the fringes can be worn choppy or loose around the face.
Bye bye contouring
If you’ve just got the hang of contouring I’m sorry to say the trend has died a quick death this year. Instead it’s all about creating a soft warm glow with blusher, applying to the apples of the cheeks. Pat McGrath used typical draping techniques with shimmering pink whilst Kay Tom Pecheux used vibrant red blush.
Electric bright eyeshadow
This summer vibrant electric eyeshadow comes into play. Orange, pink and aquamarine were worn by house of Holland whilst blues, greens and turquoise appeared on Marni. The focus is on very bright eye popping shades, perfect for wearing alongside your otherwise neutral summer makeup.
I hope these beauty trends give you some inspiration for trying something different this year. If you love the post please give it a share on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest.
