Whether you’re organising a weekend getaway with your beau or your best bud you want everything to be perfect. Whilst you can’t predict the traffic or control the weather there are a few things you can do to organise the perfect weekend getaway.
Tailor your accommodation to your trip
When you’re planning where you’re going to stay you want to take into consideration the activities you’ve planned. If you’re planning on heading to the city and doing lots of sightseeing and shopping you don’t want a hotel that’s 2 miles away (just think of the arm strain you’ll get!) In the same respect if you’re planning a beach break, a long car or bus ride in the morning is a bit of a let down when you just want to feel the sand between your toes. By staying pretty local you can make the most of your weekend.
Turn your phone off (or keep it on airplane mode)
Mobiles are the ultimate distraction and when you’re trying to have a nice meal your partner scrolling through their phone isn’t the best conversation starter. If you want to spend valued time with your friend/ partner then the phones need to go away. Not only will you not be distracted by potential work emails but you could probably have the most open conversation you’ve had in months.
Find a trip that ticks all your boxes
What is it you like doing more? Whether you prefer the beach or you’re a theme park junkie you should pick a weekend break that gets your heart racing. Ultimately you’ll enjoy it more and you’ll know it was money well spent.
Don’t pack for the week
If you’re only going for a few days do you really need all those tops and dresses? Whilst it’s always good to have a few spare outfits there’s no need to go too overboard. By only taking what you need and travelling light you’ll have more room for knick knacks and souvenirs that you find on your travels.
Extend your weekend break to a 4 day holiday
One good thing about planning a trip around the weekend is that you can have 4 days away whilst only using 2 days of your holiday allowance. It will give you extra time to chill out and have fun and also gives allowance for travel time.
Pack a few snacks
You know that feeling when you’re stuck on a hotel room, you’re peckish and there’s nothing to eat? That feeling is the worst and is completely avoidable. Take some of your favourite snacks so you have something to eat whenever you want it.
