The beauty theme park – the Glamour Beauty Festival returned for its fourth year at the Saatchi gallery. It was my first experience of the event as I was too late to get tickets last year. The festival immerses you in a world of beauty allowing you to explore and discover products that you may have heard of but not had the chance to try.
The gallery was divided into a number of different dedicated beauty zones: hair, skin, makeup and nails. In each zone there were a number of different brands exhibiting and offering makeovers, treatments, manicures and hair styling. Big brands such as GHD, Elizabeth Arden, Kat Von D, Nars and Laura Mercier all featured at the show giving you experiences like the Nars statement lip or the signature Kat Von D smokey eye. If you wanted to refresh your hairstyle GHD were at hand or OGX helped you create a gorgeous braid.
As well as the brands there were must see talks from the beauty elite. Speakers included Rochelle Humes, Katie Piper, Pixiwoo, Trinny Woodall, Estee Lalonde and lots more.
I often like to go round things quite quickly so I honestly didn’t think I’d be there for the full four hours. Boy was I wrong. The festival was extremely busy and there were queues for everything. Whilst the length of the queues varied I was surprised at just how long some of them took. I queued for about hour and half to get a cut crease at Kat Von D, and whilst it was worth it I really do hate queuing. There is no way you can get around it either, fast passes don’t exist so you just have to front it out.
As an attendee of the event everyone got a goodie bag that was full of items with £180.00. There were a lot of skincare items and it was a little disappointing with the small amount of makeup but there was a full size Revlon highlighter. Feel Unique were also offering 5 pick and mix beauty samples for free, the chance to get glitter lips and eyes in addition to trying out a new release of a lip product from By Terry. There were plenty of opportunities for those Instagram moments with Feel Unique’s photo cover zone, Guerlain’s beautiful flower background and Alcatel’s instagram zone.
The festival was a great way of trying out a new look or product and getting a pretty hairstyle you might not be able to create yourself. If you’re thinking of going next year and want to try everything you really need a full day to get around all the queues so I would recommend a all day ticket.
