Give Yourself a Scalp Massage
If your bank balance won’t stretch as far as a spa trip, you can always give yourself a pretty decent head massage to stimulate your hair follicles and get you nice and relaxed. With some simple instructions, you could become a pro at the art of head massage
Women’s Health magazine has a great guide to doing just this from a former shampoo girl no less.
Crazy for Coconut
Coconut has had such a revival in the last few years, entering many people’s homes as much more than just an exotic bite to eat. Now, people use coconut oil for cooking, beauty treatments and even for your (soon-to-be) luscious locks.
At Natural Living Ideas, they have a guide to using coconut oil for a deep conditioning treatment which includes:-
- Wash your hair and let it air dry while you prepare the coconut oil
- Make sure you have the following available:-
- Comb or hair pick
- Shower cap or small towel
- Two bowls of different sizes (one needs to fit inside the other)
- Organic virgin coconut oil
- Scoop a small amount of coconut oil into the smaller bowl and place this inside the larger bowl
- Fill the larger bowl with hot water so that the smaller bowl is partially submerged
- When the oil comes to the optimum temperature and is completely melted, use your fingers to work it into your hair. Use a comb or hair pick to work this through from root to tip
- Wrap your hair in a shower cap or towel and leave to soak in for 30 minutes or more (the longer the better)
- Shampoo your hair to remove oil
This method is also said to help with hair growth too!
Haircare While You Sleep
The thought of doing good to yourself without even trying would appeal to anyone. Working on the same principle as putting on face cream at night, or moisturising your feet and putting on moisturising socks to soak in the lotions and potions, you could be reviving your hair while you catch 40 winks.
Just look for an overnight hair masque that offers lots of lovely smelling and nourishing ingredients. Argan oil is a great ingredient for your hair, and can be found in Superdrug’s hair therapy overnight masque for just £4.99.
Go ‘Au Naturale’

Gently Does It

The Power of Ginger
Another natural remedy that will help your hair to look gorgeous: ginger. This spice is a natural antiseptic that reduces inflammation of the scalp, it nourishes the scalp and kills the fungi that causes dandruff. It can also prevent thinning and dryness. No wonder companies such as The Body Shop have brought out an anti-dandruff shampoo using ginger.
